Reviews, helpful or not?
author: Lamiz Latha
Entrepreneurs struggle to get their clients to write a review for their business. Let’s look at it from a “you the consumer” perspective. It’s time consuming, I don’t know what to say, what is in it for me. Take a moment and think back on when you wanted to try a new restaurant, book a holiday or find a fun experience. What was the first thing you looked for after google provided you with options, riiight, reviews! Reviews literally influence your choices. When choosing a movie, reading the critic’s review plays in your subconscious while you watching the movie. It’s why you’ll look at the house specials or ask your server for a recommendation.
Yes the struggle is real but here is why reviews factor in the bread and butter for businesses. The algorithms used by social media platforms impacts how and where a business shows up in a search engine based on impactful reviews rather than just clicking on a 4 or 5 star rating.
Word of mouth is wonderful because don’t you just love talking about an amazing experience, product, place or person. Imagine what a gift your words could be to a friend starting a business, small businesses with a limited marketing budget, products and services that could help your loved ones and others. You taking the time to write a review is such a generous gift. By following a few simple guidelines you can minimise the time you spend and maximise the effect of your opinion.
Some guidelines for an effective review. Yes, even one liners make a difference.
– what problem you wanted to solve?
– why you chose a specific service provider?
– did they solve your problem?
– how did they solve your problem and mention the service and/or product?
– what benefits did you experience and what was your overall experience?
Take a moment to write that review and gift someone with your valuable time.
